Desires | Fulfillment | Consciousness
Strength is a trait that must be acquired. Courage is a habit that must be developed. Wisdom comes only when knowledge is applied to experience, which requires a great deal of courage more often than not. And determination is a fire that always needs rekindling.
It can sometimes feel like there is no rest for the weary when it comes to being the best version of ourselves in this world. It’s not like we show up awesome once or twice and we’re done. No, we have to keep choosing to be the best version of ourselves (whatever that might look like on any particular day) over and over again. And it isn’t always easy. Our lives can get very busy while we’re trying to show up awesome at least one more time.
In the always turning wheel of Life, it can be easy to get distracted from what we really need, on a personal level. This is especially true for us strong, courageous, wise, and determined women, who have a tendency to focus more on other people’s needs than on our own. Maybe, we’ve allowed ourselves to become distracted by what other people need so that we don’t have to take a good look at what is missing from our own experience of Life. Fortunately, for our highest good, distractions don’t last long enough for us to ignore what we need indefinitely. And our needs will continue to try their best to get our attention.
If something you need is missing from your life, you know it.
On a deep level of your being, you know it.
You have two choices. You can continue to suffer because of that empty space inside you, the space where something you need to experience belongs. Or you can decide, right now, that you will no longer suffer the void.
What is it that you long to experience?
What needs are not being satisfied in your life?
What creative expressions are lying dormant within you?
What is it that you truly desire?
Your desires are your soul’s way of guiding you to the experiences you need to heal and to grow in this lifetime. So do not let anyone tell you that your desires are unimportant or, worse, “wrong.” Dismiss contentions, even by spiritual teachers you admire, that desires are not spiritual or that they are somehow holding you back from conscious evolution. Nothing in this material world is really about anything in this material world. Everything that happens here serves a higher perspective. Everything, including us, is an experience. No one experience is any more or less spiritual than another.
Today, I want to encourage you to sit down in a private space and contemplate whether you have any unfulfilled needs in your life; and determine what those needs are. Look beyond survival needs. Consider your heart’s desires. Meditate or journal out this issue. Examine, on the deepest level you can reach, “What is it that I really need?”
When the realization comes, when you know what you really need, commit to making sure that need gets met. Take care of yourself. Accept help from those who are willing and able to help you. Do not spend another day ignoring the void.
